Yesterday we finished the last wall! After 7 months of work on the facade it is finally finished! This day has finally come. Incredible... This is it - the last tile:

And this is the finally covered house from all sides with the happy tired trio - Du, Da and Uncle Kruno:

Last two weeks were super hard work to come to this point. We were working many days and Du is totally and absolutely crushed now. His forearms burning from thousands of screws pressed in. Kruno and Bojan were magnificent help in the last days bringing tiles, cutting tiles, going up and down the scaffolding. We also had my parents here; and Lidia; and our Italian friends Alberto and Madda and Manu; Denis was one day creating brilliantly relaxed feeling playing his sax on the roof while we were working; Deva, Sandra and Filip last weekend; Maja and Šumsko, the deep forest dweller. I am VERY grateful to all!

We started with opening the upper wall (that has been covered in black for many months) and checking the mice damage. It turns out that even though we had many nice there, the straw bales had only small holes that were not real damage at all.

Then came the phase of mudding and putting battens for the tiles:

And finally tiling (crijepanje, Ĩesto korišten glagol zadnjih mjeseci) the last wall:

    ...to be continued...

Many little things last week. Trees became green. Scaffolding in front of the south wall was removed. Black&white cat is more and more tame, she comes every day now. She was also in a fight somewhere and her leg is hurt. We discovered that hornbeam throws many funny flowers onto the ground in spring. We cleaned the funny things from the roof. Enjoyed the new look of the house in the south. I got binoculars to view the birds. They were mostly hiding from me. Drinking coffee on the roof terrace. Scared a rabbit. Du and Ur played some new improvisations. Ur made seitan for lunch. We put tiles onto the east wall. Ground floor is almost covered now. My mum cleaned the remaining tiles.

    The same story in pictures:

Ur's view of the story can be seen here.

Last week we had Šumsko (the adventurous friend) helping us. This made many jobs funnier. One of them was the preparatory work we had with the battens. We needed to spray the remaining battens for protection against mold and insects. Then it turned out that many of them had already gotten some mold this winter. So we needed to sand them first to remove most of it and then apply the protective liquid. This took some time to do. And we are still not finished. But the 2 friends didn't despair :-)

But the most important or maybe just most visible accomplishment was about the window frames. We finally had our window guys coming to install those aluminium sheets we had waiting for them. They had to be installed to the sides of the windows for protection against the rain and then sealed to the windows with caulk. They didn't make it all in one day, but they did finish the south facade. And we could finally remove the plastic cover and have the real view to the outside world!

And here some portraits, nature, sunset, Šumsko's tent in the middle of the forest and a wild plum tree of dazzling beauty and scent.

I have a special treat for you today. We were doing same old facade jobs again and again, you have seen it all before (except for Miljenko's new ladders!). So I decided to add real original creatures of spring as a bonus for watching with every building picture. We are all in the mood of spring anyway. We work for some time, than one of us stops and finds some new beauty around us. And we have to take a break to enjoy. The speed with which everything changes these days is incredible. It is a matter of hours and not days. Everything is awakening!

FIrst we glued the black hydro isolation on the very bottom. The house should be all sealed at the bottom now.

Next Du's parents came and cleaned the house from dust and made great new ladder. The ladder is so good that we decided to paint it in the future and make it into a sophisticated highly elegant product ;-)

We made the first two rows of tiles. This is the tricky one with lots of cutting and combining. I am excited to see the tiles completing a full circle around the house for the first time. Also we had to repair some of the covers on top of the house. It was easier because of the happy sun shining.

And last, Du started unfolding his chainsaw's full creative potential(!) when he made the little grabek chair. It is really comfortable to sit. And it is made from the tree that was once in place of our house. Thank you!
